Valerie Atkisson has made a number of works of art that explore descendancy. She traced the descendants of her four pairs of great grandparents in four works . Each piece includes vital data from several generations of descendants, landscapes of the places where they lived, and tiny portraits. Many of the portraits are drawn from photographs in a family history book assembled in the 1960’s.
