Tanner Spiral is composed of a series of seven goatskin parchment pieces with the names of the descendants of Valerie’s great grandfather, Henry S. Tanner, written on them. Henry had five polygamous wives, and stories and landscapes from each of their lives are depicted on separate parchment pieces, along with the names of their descendants. Henry’s first wife has numerous descendants, and her line takes up two parchments. The center parchment depicts scenes from Henry’s life.
